What happens when your bank says NO to your business funding request?
Does that mean your business opportunity is over?
Not necessarily.
In this Success Today Motivational Moment, Micah Parker explains why a rejection from one traditional bank doesn't necessarily mean the vision is dead. Sometimes it simply means you need a different strategy.
A business may be growing and still fall outside a particular bank's lending guidelines because of factors such as credit, cash flow, time in business, collateral, financial statements, or existing debt.
A "no" may mean:
Not this lender.
Not this type of financing.
Or simply — NOT YET.
Drawing from Proverbs 15:22, Micah discusses the importance of seeking wise counsel, understanding why financing was declined, strengthening areas of weakness, and exploring appropriate alternatives.
But there's another important principle:
The goal isn't simply to GET FUNDED.
The goal is to obtain the RIGHT FUNDING for the RIGHT REASON at the RIGHT TIME.
Know your numbers.
Understand how the capital will be used.
Count the cost.
And make sure the financing supports a legitimate business objective.
TODAY'S SUCCESS TODAY CHALLENGE:
If you've recently been turned down for business financing, find out WHY.
Then ask yourself:
What can I improve?
What alternatives are available?
What can I do TODAY to put my business in a stronger position tomorrow?
Sometimes a "no" isn't the end of the road.
Sometimes it's simply a sign telling you to take another route.
