• Disney's 'Descendants' franchise returns with a new adventure to Wonderland
    2026/07/21

Disney has plenty of film franchises, but the biggest in recent years has to be the direct-to-streaming "Descendants" series.

Launched in 2015, followed by "Descendants 2" in 2017 and "Descendants 3" in 2019, the series shifted in 2024 with a new cast for "Descendants: The Rise of Red." Many of those new characters return for "Descendants: Wicked Wonderland."

In this episode, co-host Bruce Miller first has an interivew with Kiara Romero (Hazel Hook, daughter of Captain Hook), Alexandro Byrd (Luis Madrigal, son of Luisa Madrigal) and Liamani Segura (Pink, daughter of the Queen of Hearts and younger sister of Red), followed by a second interivew with co-stars Malia Baker (Chloe Charming, daughter of Cinderalla and King Charming) and Kylie Cantrall (Red, daughter of the Queen of Hearts).

Bruce and co-host Terry Lipshetz also chat about the impact of the series on a younger generation of Disney fans.

  • When it comes to Emmy nominations, expect the unexpected
    2026/07/15

Nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards delivered both expected and unexpected results.

“The Pitt” led the way with 25 nominations, with “Hacks” one behind at 24. Shows like “Widow’s Bay” (19), “Pluribus” (18), “Beef” (16) and “DTF St. Louis” (13) were among other big winners.

But popular shows like “The Bear” (8 nominations), often criticized for entering comedy categories, and “Stranger Things” (7 nominations in technical categories), were left out of most of the big categories.

In this episode, co-hosts Bruce Miller and Terry Lipshetz discuss the nominations that were released earlier in the month. The awards ceremony will be held on Sept. 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

The hosts also chat about some new programming, like the Netflix adaptation of “Little House on the Prairie” and the latest “Big Bang Theory” spinoff: “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.” And "House of the Dragon" is back, with its third season perhaps its best so far.

  • Looking for some summer fun? Visit a drive-in theater!
    2026/07/08

While summer is synonymous with blockbuster movies, a trip to the theater isn't limited to sitting in a multiplex. For those seeking something different, drive-in theaters — though not as prevalent as they once were — are still thriving in parts of the country and offer a unique movie-watching experience.

In this episode, co-hosts Terry Lipshetz and Bruce Miller recall their experiences at drive-in theaters. Terry reminisces about visiting a New Jersey drive-in during its final season before it became a multiplex, and expresses excitement for the return of the Highway 18 Outdoor Theatre near his home in Jefferson, Wisconsin. Bruce reflects on attending drive-ins as a teenager.

  • Full 'Disclosure': Spielberg's new film falls short of lofty expectations
    2026/06/24

Steven Spielberg is the master of the summer blockbuster. His 1975 classic "Jaws" is credited as the first big summer movie in film history, and films from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" to "Saving Private Ryan" are among his most loved summer films.

Spielberg is also noted for his science-fiction films that explore the possibilities of life beyond our planet, such as "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind." Building on this legacy, he returns this summer with "Disclosure Day," which explores what would happen if the existence of aliens were revealed to the world.

In this episode, the conversation shifts from Spielberg's filmography to the latest release, as co-hosts Bruce Miller and Terry Lipshetz talk about the film. They note that while it is good, it does not live up to the hype that comes with a Spielberg film. However, as mentioned in this week's episode, the worst Spielberg film is still going to be better than just about anything else.

The hosts also discuss the New York Knicks finally winning an NBA title before looking ahead to the release of "Toy Story 5."

  • New movies drop and 'The Bear' returns after a trip to 'Gary'
    2026/06/17

We haven't seen all of the big summer blockbusters, but there are still plenty of movies to watch. But are they worth your time?

And the final season of "The Bear" is almost here. Co-host Bruce Miller has seen almost all of the episodes and shares what we can, while co-host Terry Lipshetz talks about the bonus episode of the show that dropped in May called "Gary."

In this episode, the hosts talk about "The Bear" and movies like "Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass," "Toy Story 5," "Elle," a new series that is a prequel to "Legally Blonde," and "The Social Reckoning," a movie that serves as a follow-up to "The Social Network" starring Oscar-winner Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White of "The Bear."

  • Summer movies run cold as 'Euphoria' ends wild ride
    2026/06/10

“Disclosure Day” and “The Odyssey” are expected to dominate the summer box office, but they’re not quite here.

Instead, we’ve been left with an underwhelming start to the summer movie season to go with the conclusion of several seasons and series of streaming favorites.

On this week’s episode, co-host Bruce Miller shares his thoughts on movies that missed the mark, from “Power Ballad” to “The Breadwinner” to “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu.” And then there is another movie with low expectations: “Masters of the Universe.”

Co-host Terry Lipshetz shares his thoughts on the conclusions of “Euphoria,” “Beef,” “Half Man,” “The Testaments,” and “For All Mankind,” before turning to the start of the latter’s spinoff, “Star City.”
