The world tells you to chase more, prove yourself, and measure your life by milestones. We felt that pressure too, and Psalm 119 meets it head-on with a different prayer: “Teach me, Lord.” From a lighthearted story about combining two wildly different vacations to a sober reflection on why the Psalms feel so raw, we end up at the same place, gratitude for God’s grace and a hunger to be shaped by His Word.
We walk through Psalm 119:33–48 and talk about the posture that changes everything when you open the Bible. Not reading Scripture like trivia. Not rushing through a checklist. Asking God for understanding, inviting correction, and letting the Holy Spirit expose selfish gain and “worthless things” that quietly steal our attention. We also dig into the tension between cultural success and God’s definition of a life that actually matters, in our money, our marriages, our church, and our daily priorities.
Then we flip the common mistake many of us make: obedience doesn’t earn salvation, it flows from it. That leads to a grounded, hopeful picture of Christian freedom, not “do whatever you want,” but the wide-open space to grow, heal, and live with purpose because Jesus has set us free. We even revisit a 9/11 memory that shows how faith can bring peace in chaos and a mission that lasts.
