Steve Palazzolo of the Check the Mic podcast joins UJJP to preview the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2026 season after a 13-4 campaign. Using some of sports media’s favorite clichés, Steve and Seth break down whether the Jaguars can run it back, Liam Coen and the coaching staff, Jacksonville’s controversial draft, Travis Hunter, Trevor Lawrence, Travon Walker, Parker Washington, Arik Armstead, and what this team needs to do to establish itself as a legitimate contender. Finally, we play a little “Steve vs. the Shouty Seth” and explain why the Jaguars are a LOCK to win at least 9 games in 2026.Then we go back for a retrospective on the almost mythological 1999 Jacksonville Jaguars, who went 14-2 and became the standard every Jaguars team since has been measured against.Steve became a Jaguars fan during Jacksonville’s improbable 1996 playoff run, so we dive deep into the team, the players, and the mythology of the greatest season in franchise history. How good were Mark Brunell, Jimmy Smith, Keenan McCardell, Tony Boselli, and Fred Taylor? What did Dom Capers change to create the original “Sacksonville” defense? Are we mythologizing the 1999 Jaguars because of a historically soft schedule? Why were the Tennessee Titans the one team Jacksonville simply could not beat? And finally, a counterfactual for the sickos. If Jacksonville had beaten Tennessee in the 1999 AFC Championship Game, how would they stack up against the 1999 Rams with Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Issac Bruce, and the Greatest Show on Turf in Super Bowl XXXIV?Special thanks to Campione Law for sponsoring UJJP.
