Steph and the Storytime Crew is a podcast of gentle, engaging stories that help kids regulate emotions, feel safe in their bodies, and navigate the ups and downs of growing up.

Created by therapist and mum Steph McCarter, each 15–30 minute story supports emotional resilience, self-worth, and nervous system regulation - covering everything from anxiety and big feelings to friendships, confidence, and self-trust.

While many families love the stories at bedtime, teachers and educators also use them in classrooms, calm corners, and transition times to support focus, connection, and emotional balance.

Perfect for ages 5 through to 12 (and the grown-ups who listen too), especially sensitive, deep-feeling, neurodivergent, or anxious kids who experience the world a little more intensely.

Blending storytelling with nervous system wisdom, Steph also supports families through neurodiversity coaching - helping parents better understand and support their beautifully unique kids.

Think: big feelings, funny animals, gentle tools, and moments of calm that kids actually enjoy.

New stories added regularly.

  • Myles the Mandrill Monkey & The Love Tree
    2026/07/09

What happens when your family is about to grow, but your heart starts wondering where you fit?

In this heartfelt Storytime Crew adventure, we meet Myles the Mandrill Monkey. With his bright blue and red nose, his very pink bottom, and a heart full of questions, Myles is about to become a big brother... again.

As everyone around him gets excited for the new baby, Myles quietly wonders...

Will Mum and Dad still have time for me?

Will there still be enough love?

    Do I still matter?

With a little help from the wise (and wonderfully cheeky) Gus the Gorilla, Myles discovers that love isn't something that gets divided when a new baby arrives. It grows, just like the branches of the magnificent Love Tree.

This gentle, funny bedtime story is perfect for children preparing to welcome a new sibling, especially those experiencing worries, jealousy, uncertainty or big emotions about becoming a big brother or sister.

In this episode, children will learn:

    • Why it's normal to have mixed feelings about a new baby
    • That love grows as families grow
    • That they will always have a special place in their family
    • A simple Love Tree reminder to help them feel safe, loved and connected

So snuggle up, take a deep breath and join Myles on a heartwarming jungle adventure that reminds every child of one very important truth...

You matter. You belong. And there will always be enough love for you.

I'm Steph, an Integrative Therapist based in Perth, Australia, and I specialise in helping sensitive kids understand their big feelings, regulate their nervous systems and discover just how incredible they truly are.

These stories were born from my own journey as a mum. My son needed a fun, gentle way to understand emotions, friendships, confidence, anxiety, resilience, and all the wonderfully messy parts of growing up. So I started creating stories that could spark conversations, build emotional literacy, and help children feel seen, safe and understood.

If these stories have become a special part of your family's bedtime or your child would benefit from some extra support, I'd love to help. I work with children and families both in person and remotely around the globe through nervous system reset sessions and holistic wellbeing support.

You can find out more, book a session, or explore my other resources at whitespacewellbeing.com.au, or come and say hello on Instagram @whitespace_wellbeing_perth.

Until next time, keep being kind, keep being curious, and always remember... you matter, you belong and you are wonderful exactly as you are.

  • Clark the Shark Who's Definitely Not Afraid of the Dark
    2026/07/02

Clark the Shark wants everyone to know he is definitely, absolutely, positively not afraid of the dark.

    Not even a tiny bit.

    Except… he very much is.

When Clark’s favourite glow-worm light goes missing, he must swim into the shadowy part of Rainbow Reef with his friends to find it. Along the way, and some help from his friends, Clark discovers suspicious seaweed, dramatic socks, a very sleepy turtle, and the truth about what bravery really means.

This funny and heartwarming Steph and the Storytime Crew adventure helps kids understand that being brave does not mean never feeling scared. Sometimes bravery looks like telling the truth, breathing like waves, finding safe things around you, and taking one tiny fin-step forward.

Perfect for kids who feel nervous at bedtime, scared of the dark or need a gentle reminder that they can feel both scared and brave at the very same time.

  • Koda the Koala and Wuggles the Worry Wort
    2026/03/26

What if worry wasn’t something to worry about… but something to get curious about?

In this gentle and heartfelt Storytime Crew episode, we meet up with Koda the Koala, a sweet little koala with a very busy brain. His worries stack up on top of each other until everything feels a bit too much… sound familiar?

But everything changes when Koda meets Wuggles the Worry Wort, a wiggly, wobbling little creature who might not be the enemy after all.

Instead of pushing worry away, Koda learns a powerful new way to respond… by getting curious.

This story softly introduces children to:
    • understanding worry instead of fearing it
    • recognising that worry is trying to help
    • simple tools to feel calmer and more in control
    • how to let worry sit beside them, not take over

With a calming “Steph Magic Moment” woven in, this episode gives children a practical, soothing technique they can use at bedtime or anytime worries pop up.

Perfect for sensitive kids, big thinkers, and busy little brains.

Because sometimes… the bravest thing we can do isn’t to get rid of worry… it’s to say, “Hello, Wuggles.” 🐨✨
