Welcome back to another Age of Empires Magazine! Today’s episode is going to be short and sweet, because August has been a very uneventful month aside from the League and Daniela is too busy with said event so unfortunately she can’t join me for this episode. That’s why today’s episode will give you a bit of an update on the current standings of The League in the News. The second News will be Franchise News and revolve around some of the new information that has been released for the upcoming DLC. I'll also be reading an email and give you a very quick tournament outlook for september 2026.

Today, I want to tell you about the Teutons. They’re one of the Original Civilizations in the 1999s Age of Kings and they play out very differently in the hands of casual and competitive players. The Teutons are considered to be one of the worst civilizations overall and on Arabia particularly in the current meta. They are basically never seen in any tournament and most of the time rated the lowest tier in any kind of tierlist. The reason for this discrepancy is of course the lack of mobility for the Teutons, them being basically the slowest Civ in the game and bad late game options without gold, which are both very important elements when comparing civilizations in competitive matchups.

The Teutons serve as a great example of how complicated it is to balance a civilzation well when considering the different skill levels and intentions of players when playing Age of Empires, as they can be completely broken and bad at the same time.
