• When It Doesn’t Go Your Way: Hustle Back
    2026/10/22

A bad day does not mean you have a bad life.

One setback does not mean your comeback has failed.

In Week 4 of the ReEntry series, Toni talks about one of the most important lessons she learned as a coach: short-term memory loss.

When a player misses a shot and stands there replaying it instead of hustling back on defense, one bad play can quickly become two.

    Life works the same way.

    In this episode:

    • Why setbacks do not erase your progress
    • What short-term memory loss means in sports and life
    • Why the meaning we attach to a setback can hurt more than the setback itself
    • The difference between saying “I missed the shot” and “I am terrible”
    • Why mental toughness does not mean suppressing your emotions
    • What it means to recover first and reflect second
    • Why hustling back sometimes has to happen immediately
    • How to stop one bad moment from becoming a verdict on your entire life

    Remember This

You are allowed to have a bad play. You are not required to turn it into a bad game.

    Then hustle back.

  • You Don't Have To Coach Yourself Through Re-entry
    2026/10/15

You can be capable, independent, and resourceful and still need support.

In Week 3 of the ReEntry series, Toni talks about why asking for help can feel so uncomfortable, especially when you have spent years being the one who handles everything.

She shares how independence became part of her identity, what happened when she finally ran into a problem she could not solve, and why perspective can matter just as much as strength.

    In this episode:

    • Why problem-solving can become a way to manage fear
    • How independence can quietly turn into “I should be able to do this alone”
    • Why asking for help can trigger shame or embarrassment
    • The value of having trusted people who can see what you cannot
    • Why a coach can often see the whole court when you cannot
    • The practical difference between coaching and therapy
    • Signs that coaching may be the right next step
    • Why you may not need more information—you may need help applying what you already know

    Ask Yourself

Am I truly stuck because I do not know what to do—or because I am trying to do all of it alone?

    Ready for Your Next Play?

If you are tired of going in circles, second-guessing your decisions, or trying to figure everything out by yourself, coaching may be the next step.

Book a discovery call with Toni to talk about where you are, where you want to go, and whether coaching could help you move forward.

  • Your Life Needs a New Playbook
    2026/10/08

What happens when the game changes, but you are still running the old plays?

In Week 2 of the ReEntry series, Toni talks about the routines, responsibilities, and expectations we often carry into a new season simply because they are familiar.

She shares what cooking for one taught her after years of cooking for her family and why changing a routine can feel surprisingly emotional when that routine represented connection, identity, or love.

This episode is not about throwing away your old life.

It is about asking whether the way you are living now still fits the life you actually have.

    In this episode:

    • Why familiar routines can linger long after life changes
    • How grief can hide inside ordinary things like dinner, weekends, and holidays
    • Why the question is not just “What needs to change?” but “What did this routine give me?”
    • How to reshape meaningful routines instead of abandoning them
    • Why small changes work better than trying to reinvent your whole life
    • How to plan before loneliness or space catches you off guard
    • Four areas to examine: rhythms, responsibilities, relationships, and recreation
    • The difference between staying busy to avoid your feelings and intentionally building a life you want

    Ask yourself:

Does the way I am currently living fit the woman I am becoming?

Then choose one routine and ask:

What did this routine give me?

What part of it do I still want?

What needs to change for the life I am living now?

    Change one thing.

That is your play this week.

Paid Substack subscribers will receive Rewrite Your Playbook, a short companion designed to help you identify one routine that no longer fits and create one practical replacement.

    No complete life overhaul required.

    One play at a time.

    And yes...

    Buy less chicken.

There is still time left on the clock.

  • Your First Play: Re-Entering Your Life Before You Feel Ready
    2026/10/01

    You survived Shock.

You worked your way through Limbo.

Now comes the part that can feel surprisingly uncomfortable: living again.

In this week's episode of Start Your Comeback, Toni begins the five-week ReEntry series with a personal look at what her own ReEntry actually looked like after divorce and becoming an empty nester.

It wasn't the day the divorce became final.

It began in a nearly empty apartment filled with hand-me-down furniture and one unexpected realization:

    She wanted to be lighter.

Toni shares what happened when freedom finally arrived, but she wasn't quite sure what to do with it, why staying constantly busy became a way to avoid loneliness, and how she slowly began discovering who she was outside the life she'd known for 25 years.

    You'll hear:

    • Why Reentry is different from simply surviving a transition
    • How busyness can sometimes disguise loneliness
    • Why freedom can initially feel uncomfortable
    • What it means to start participating in your life again
    • Why readiness does not mean fearlessness
    • How to choose one small action instead of trying to reinvent your whole life
    • Why your first play matters more than having the entire game plan

    This Week's Challenge

    Ask yourself:

What is one thing I know I'm ready to try even if I have to do it afraid?

    Then take the play.

  • The Next Right Step
    2026/09/17

What if the next step in your comeback feels less like a confident stride and more like stepping onto a tightrope?

In this final episode of the five-week Limbo series, Toni talks about courage, fear, movement, and what it really means to take the next right step.

You do not need the whole plan.

You do not need to feel fearless.

And you do not need to know exactly where the second, fifth, or tenth step will lead.

You simply need enough courage for the step in front of you.

    In This Episode

    Toni talks about:

    • Why Limbo can feel like walking a tightrope
    • Why courage does not require fear to disappear
    • How small steps create real momentum
    • Why the next right step may be quieter than you expect
    • How fear can keep us waiting for certainty that may never come
    • Why Ruth’s “as it happened” moment is such a powerful picture of movement
    • How reflection can eventually turn into avoidance
    • Why Limbo was never meant to become your permanent address
    • How the next right step becomes the bridge into Reentry

    The Big Takeaway

Let fear be the losing opponent today.

    Then move.

  • Coaching Through Limbo: Sometimes You Just Need the Right Timeout
    2026/09/10

When you are standing in the middle of a major life transition, it can be hard to see what is really happening.

You are managing the emotions, the fear, the decisions, the finances, the family dynamics, and everything else life is throwing at you.

Sometimes you are simply too close to the game to see the whole court.

In this episode of Start Your Comeback, Toni shares the story of a basketball game in 1993 when one timeout and one adjustment changed the momentum of the entire game.

That story became a powerful picture of what coaching through Limbo can look like.

You may not need 50 changes.

You may not need to blow up your entire life.

You may simply need someone on the sideline who can help you see what you cannot see yet.

    In This Episode

    Toni talks about:

    • Why it is hard to see clearly when you are in the middle of a transition
    • The difference between coaching and simply giving advice
    • Why good coaches ask questions instead of handing out answers
    • How fear can disguise itself as confusion
    • Why friends are valuable but are not always coaches
    • How coaching can help separate facts from fear
    • Why accountability sometimes matters more than reassurance
    • How one small adjustment can change the momentum of your comeback
    • Why coaching is not meant to create long-term dependency
    • How to identify the next play without having the entire game plan

If you are in Limbo and tired of circling the same questions, second-guessing every decision, or trying to figure out your next season alone, this is exactly the kind of work Toni does with her coaching clients.

    Coaching can help you:

    • identify what is actually keeping you stuck
    • separate facts from fear
    • recognize patterns you may not be able to see yourself
    • determine what is within your control
    • make decisions with greater clarity
    • identify your next step

If that sounds like where you are right now, come sit with me.

If you are not ready for one-on-one coaching but want help working through your transition, Toni’s book, Start Your Comeback, and the companion workbook, Start Your Comeback Game Plan, were created to help you begin building your own comeback one step at a time.

  • Decision Training: How to Trust Yourself Again When You Don’t Know What Comes Next
    2026/09/03

Making decisions after a major life transition can feel completely different than it used to.

Suddenly, every choice feels bigger. You second-guess yourself, ask everyone else what they think, and sometimes avoid making a decision altogether because you're afraid of getting it wrong.

In this episode of Start Your Comeback, Toni talks about why rebuilding confidence requires Decision Training—learning to make small decisions first, seek wise counsel without giving away your authority, and trust yourself to handle the outcome.

    In this episode:

    • Why not making a decision is still a decision
    • Toni's “Board of Directors” and the importance of wise counsel
    • The difference between asking for perspective and asking someone else to decide for you
    • Why small decisions help rebuild confidence
    • How to recognize when uncertainty is making you rush
    • Why your emotional capacity matters when making bigger choices
    • How thinking through the worst-case scenario can actually reduce fear
    • Why a disappointing outcome does not automatically mean you made a bad decision

    The Decision Training Framework

    The Urgency Check:
Does this decision actually need to be made today, or am I rushing it just to escape the discomfort of uncertainty?

    The Capacity Gauge:
On a scale of 1 to 10, how much emotional bandwidth do I have right now? If it is below a 5, can I give myself permission to push this decision to next week?

    The Safety Net:
What is the worst-case scenario if this decision doesn’t go the way I hope, and do I have the resilience, support, and resources to handle it?

    Remember:

You are not trying to become someone who never makes the wrong decision.

You are becoming someone who trusts herself to make the wisest decision she can, and knows she can handle what comes next.

Read this week's Limbo Letters on Substack, and paid subscribers can grab Friday's Decision Training Game Plan Companion to work through one real decision using the framework from today's episode.

If you're facing a bigger transition and need help sorting through the noise, Toni also offers one-on-one coaching.

You don't need the whole plan. You need the next play.
