Ladies, knowing your worth doesn't mean expecting perfection. It means understanding what you deserve, recognizing what truly matters, and being willing to offer the same qualities you expect from someone else.
In Season 12, Episode 10 of Improving Your Thoughts by Freeing Yourself, “Standards vs. Entitlement: Know the Difference,” host A’laila Carroll challenges women to take an honest look at their relationship expectations and understand the difference between having healthy standards and believing they're entitled to everything they desire.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting a man who is honest, faithful, financially responsible, emotionally mature, respectful, and committed. But here's the question many women don't stop to ask:
Are you bringing those same qualities into the relationship that you're demanding from someone else?
If you expect honesty, are you honest?
If you expect loyalty, are you loyal?
If you expect financial stability, are you taking responsibility for your own finances?
If you expect emotional maturity, can you communicate without manipulation, apologize when you're wrong, and take accountability for your actions?
And if you expect a man to respect your boundaries, are you willing to respect his?
Ladies, having standards is about protecting your values, not placing yourself above another human being.
In this thought-provoking episode, A’laila explores the difference between standards, preferences, and unrealistic expectations. She discusses why some women confuse self-worth with entitlement, why physical appearance and financial success shouldn't overshadow character, and how unrealistic expectations can prevent women from recognizing genuinely good partners.
We'll also discuss why being a woman of value doesn't mean a man owes you a relationship, marriage, financial support, or a particular lifestyle simply because you desire those things.
A healthy relationship isn't about what one person can demand. It's about what two people are willing to build together.
This episode will challenge you to examine your expectations surrounding dating, communication, finances, faith, family, intimacy, commitment, and emotional responsibility.
And most importantly, it will encourage you to ask yourself one powerful question:
“Are my standards protecting the future I want to build, or am I expecting another person to prove my worth by fulfilling every expectation I have?”
Because ladies, knowing your worth doesn't mean believing you're better than someone else.
It means knowing what you value, understanding what you need, recognizing what you bring to a relationship, and having the maturity to distinguish between what is essential and what is simply preferred.
You don't have to lower your standards to find love. But you do have to make sure your standards are rooted in values, not entitlement.
Join A’laila Carroll for another empowering conversation about self-worth, accountability, emotional maturity, and building relationships based on mutual respect.
Remember: You cannot demand a healthy relationship while refusing to become a healthy partner yourself. Ladies, never apologize for having healthy standards. But remember, the purpose of standards isn't to find someone who will worship you, finance every desire, or prove your value. It's to recognize someone whose character, values, and commitment align with yours.
Know your worth. Respect his worth. And build a relationship where neither person has to lose themselves to be loved.

Art that you wear.
