A Bridgeton police officer is facing intense scrutiny after a disturbing video surfaced showing him punching a handcuffed woman multiple times in the chest. The woman, who called for help, claims she was trying to get his attention and didn’t realize he was hitting her until later — and says the officer didn’t know she was being restrained at the time. Police Chief Robert Tracy confirmed the footage, called the incident under investigation, and noted the officer has eight years of service and is from out of town. The department vows full transparency and accountability as they gather facts and await public disclosure of findings.

A federal judge in Missouri has slapped a temporary restraining order forcing the state to use its newly drawn congressional maps — despite the Supreme Court’s pause — sparking a high-stakes legal showdown over fair representation. The battle centers on whether the redrawn districts violate voting rights laws by diluting minority voters’ influence, with groups like the Missouri NAACP pushing for equitable maps that empower Black communities. Opposing them, state officials argue the maps are legally sound and constitutionally valid. This pivotal ruling could reshape Missouri’s political future — and the drama is far from over.
