Keyshawn Hall’s bid to return to the court this season hit a major roadblock as the Ohio Court of Appeals denied his emergency request to regain eligibility, leaving him sidelined for St. John’s opener against Monmouth. The ruling upholds an NCAA stay that bars him from playing despite transferring from Auburn this summer. While Hall’s path remains legally tangled, teammates like Babacar Sane are navigating their own eligibility hurdles—with Sane recently securing a temporary win and awaiting a formal hearing in October. Quinn Ellis and Reed Bailey also await rulings, adding suspense to a season poised to unfold amid ongoing NCAA legal battles.

NyCeara Pryor, the first NCAA D1 player to ever reach 2,200 points, 550 assists, and 450 steals, is making history as St. John’s newest point guard. Averaging over 16 points, 7 assists, and 3.5 steals per game, she’s a two-time NEC Player of the Year and SEC All-Defensive Team honoree who led her teams to NCAA Tournament bids and dominated steals nationally — all while standing just 5-foot-3. After standout stints at Sacred Heart and Texas A&M, Pryor brings elite scoring, playmaking, and defensive prowess to the Red Storm, setting the stage for a thrilling season opener against Lafayette.

St. John’s men’s basketball just unveiled a historic 2026-27 schedule — for the first time ever, they’re bringing all their Big East home games to Madison Square Garden, with only a few non-conference matchups left at Carnesecca. They’re returning to the Players’ Era Festival in Vegas for a bigger 16-team tournament, opening against Oregon and facing potential clashes with Tennessee or Maryland, even risking a Columbia game if they reach the finals. The Garden will host high-stakes showdowns like Syracuse (first in four years) and Arizona, plus a Southern trip to rematch Alabama. Conference play kicks off at home vs. DePaul, then hits the road against Seton Hall, Providence, and Butler — including a Friday night UConn rivalry clash at MSG. With Coach Pitino eyeing his third straight Big East title and a loaded roster, St. John’s is poised to make waves this season.
