The Ravens dominated Miami, pushing the Dolphins toward seller status at the trade deadline, while Joe Flacco brought the Bengals all the way back only to fall short against the Bears. The Packers were stunned at home by the Panthers as 13.5-point favorites, and JJ McCarthy returned with a statement win over the Lions. The Steelers cooled off the Colts, the Giants were blown out by the 49ers, the Bills took down the Chiefs in Buffalo, and the Cardinals ended the Cowboys' playoff hopes in Week 9.

    In the NBA, the Bulls and Knicks split their weekend home-and-home series, while in MLB, the Dodgers captured the World Series in seven games.
