CONTEXT: Paul, Silas, and Timothy are serving together on Paul’s Second Missionary Journey. Luke will join the missionary team in Troas.

SIGNIFICANCE: Paul’s team will take the Gospel to Europe for the first time. He will establish churches in Philippi and Thessalonica (Macedonia), preach the Gospel in Athens (Greece), and establish a church in Corinth (Achaia).

KEY INSIGHT: Luke records Paul’s dependence on the leadership of the Holy Spirit in the implementation of his missiological strategy.

APPLICATION: The Church is a spiritual organism. We are dependent on the guidance of the Holy Spirit both personally and corporately as a church body!

PRAYER

Father, teach me to be sensitive to your Holy Spirit at work in me. Amen.
