Controversial Corner examines Widnes Town and the news that they could be expelled from the league after playing just seven games in their brief history. The question remains: should the FA have sanctioned their admission to the NWCFL in the first place? It appears the FA did not do their homework.

Doncaster City has resigned from the NCEL.

Quite controversially, Doncaster City FC applied for permission to compete in the Scottish Cup when it was formed in 2022.

The club believed a peace treaty dating back to 1136—which ceded Doncaster to the Scottish king—should allow them to participate in the knockout competition north of the border.

Football agent Willie McKay established the club in what has since been regarded as an ill-fated experiment.

In this week's episode, we kick off with our usual pre-show, show. Everything was going smoothly until Richard Brodie gatecrashed the opening segment. But being the true professionals we are, we managed to secure an interview with him!

Chris Bull, manager of Ormskirk West End, joins us as a studio guest. We discuss his club and their plans for the future.

We also cover the usual topics of NWCFL and other local non-league and amateur football. Who are the early movers and shakers, and who already looks like cannon fodder?

This week's show is full of controversy. Prescot Cables' main stand is all but condemned, with talks about them potentially making a permanent move. Runcorn Linnets are facing ground issues too—their hybrid pitch has reached the end of its natural life, and there's also the small matter of replacing their perimeter fence. This comes at a significant cost, with the club needing to raise at least £100,000 to stay afloat.

Has the Liverpool Senior Cup lost its credibility? Last season's final has still not been played. Rumours of a revamped competition have been circulating.

Lancaster City and Maldon & Tiptree are both under new ownership, while Widnes Town have appointed a new chairman.

Gainsborough Trinity found themselves victims of someone falsely claiming to be their First-Team Manager, Russ Wilcox. He appeared to be offering contracts and wages to various players, until Trinity caught wind of it. They have now issued a statement: "Stop impersonating our manager, stop wasting the time of players and clubs across the non-league game, and quite frankly, get a life."

We take a look at all the other local leagues affecting non-league football. Including Runcorn Town, who were beaten in the league for the first time in 380 days — 35 games.

Joint manager Darren Moore reacted to the 2-1 defeat at Wythenshawe Town by saying, "We never really got into the game. We normally create a lot of chances, but we didn't look like scoring from open play."

We examine the usual suspects: Marine, Southport, Avro, Bootle, Clitheroe, and both Warrington teams, to name a few. We also discuss Anthony Johnson's frustrations at Bury, as well as laugh at the boo boys who have already started baying for blood.

Controversial Corner opens with two big stories affecting Rusthall FC and Maldon & Tiptree.

We then feature a fantastic interview with Andy McCann, manager of The Cheshire Football League Representative side, who were crowned FA Inter-League Cup winners following a 3-1 victory over Herts Senior County League at the KingPower Stadium in Leicester, back in May.

On this week's episode of the show, we take a look at the ins and outs—the players who have signed and those who have left for pastures new.

It's all heating up as a new season is about to start in the NWCFL, so we review this weekend's fixtures and make our predictions.

In the controversial corner, we examine Widnes Town. One of their pre-season friendlies was postponed because they couldn't field a full team, and within days, they have made a plea for a chairman and committee members, claiming the lack of numbers is their weak spot. Surely this should have been addressed before they applied to join the counties?

We consider the ramifications of Droylsden's pitch invasion when they won a penalty shootout against Maghull in last season's play-off final, and ask whether a three-match stadium closure order is a bit over the top. Scenes of relief and exhilaration were visible when the winning penalty was scored. This led to red flares being set off and unsavoury scuffles between rival fans, with one person being arrested. We've seen worse incidents in football, with less punishment. With video evidence of what happened, surely pursuing the worst offenders and punishing them more severely would have a greater impact.

We also question what is going on at York City, as their National League-winning manager, Stuart Maynard, was bizarrely sacked due to a difference in direction and vision for the football club.

We say farewell to our former coach and interim manager, Barney, and thank him for all the dedication and hard work he contributed to the club, as well as for all the laughs he brought us along the way.
