The first round of the playoffs starts today for High School Volleyball. There are 4 teams playing at home in the first round. Tooele at Hurricane, Desert Peak at Dixie, Stansbury at Snow Canyon, and Jordan at Pine View.Snow Canyon and Ridgeline go head to head for the soccer championship tomorrow at America First Field.Utah Tech and SUU athletics are in action today. SUU Soccer is at Utah Valley while Utah Tech women's soccer is at Cal Baptist. Region 9 Girls Soccer heats up as Desert Hills and Snow Canyon face off for the third time this season — this time in the 4A State Semi-Finals at Greater Zion Stadium. Each team has taken a win in the regular season, and now the rivalry continues with a trip to the championship on the line. The Mustangs, along with Snow Canyon, Hurricane, and Pine View, all earned first-round byes in the playoffs. Dixie and Desert Hills hit the road this weekend, while Cedar and Kanab headline their divisions as top seeds heading into the postseason.Region 9 Volleyball state brackets are set, and every local team gets a home game! Cedar, Crimson Cliffs, and Desert Hills move straight to round two, while Hurricane, Dixie, Pine View, and Snow Canyon host their first-round matchups.At the college level, Utah Tech Women’s Soccer earned a 2–0 shutout over Abilene Christian behind goals from freshmen Jocelyn Wright and Abby Olson. The Men’s Soccer team came up just short in a 2–1 loss to San Diego State.Down in Cedar City, SUU Football pulled off a huge upset over Abilene Christian, 31–24. Bronson Barron made his return at quarterback, while Joshua Dye dominated the ground game with 181 yards and two touchdowns. The Thunderbird defense came up clutch with three picks, five sacks, and a fumble recovery.On the ice, the Utah Mammoth are red hot — 3–0 since unveiling their new mascot, Tusky! Their latest win came against the Bruins, 3–2, with Dylan Guenther netting the game-winner. The Mammoth are now tied for second in the Central Division.Meanwhile, the Vegas Golden Knights continue to roll, crushing Calgary 6–1 over the weekend, while the Las Vegas Raiders continue to struggle after being shut out 31–0 by the Chiefs heading into their bye week.
