概要

Soul Recovery (Therapy Podcast) is a grounded, therapy-informed conversation about healing the patterns we learned in childhood and how they continue to shape our mental health and relationships.

Hosted by two therapists, Gayle Dargel, M.A., LMFT and Dr. Keean Menard, PsyD, this show explores trauma, nervous system regulation, anxiety, and prediction error in a way that’s clear and practical.

We talk about how early environments wire us for survival, how those patterns show up in adult relationships, and how to begin unlearning what no longer serves you. Each episode also connects personal healing to the bigger picture. From current events to cultural shifts, we examine how what’s happening in the world impacts our nervous systems, our stress levels, and the way we relate to each other.

The goal is simple: increase self-awareness, build regulation skills, and move from survival patterns into healthier, more secure relationships.

  • Regulation doesn’t always mean calm, it’s a spectrum.
    2026/03/06

In this episode of Soul Recovery (Therapy Podcast), we talk about how difficult events in the world impact our nervous systems and emotional wellbeing. Using current headlines and conversations around immigration enforcement and national tension, we explore how collective stress can show up in our bodies as anxiety, overwhelm, or shutdown.

We also unpack the idea that regulation doesn’t always mean calm. Regulation is a spectrum, and learning to notice what’s happening inside your body is often the first step toward stability and awareness.

This conversation looks at how external stressors interact with personal history, trauma, and our nervous systems, and how building awareness can help us stay grounded even when the world feels uncertain.

New episodes of Soul Recovery explore trauma, regulation, relationships, and the patterns that shape our lives weekly right here @soulrecoverypodcast.

  • Making Room: When Culture is Shared in America (Bad Bunny, Super Bowl Halftime Show)
    2026/02/26

Why do so many of us trade our truth for approval?

In this episode of Soul Recovery, we explore the quiet ways we lose ourselves in the effort to belong. From overextending, to shrinking, to becoming who we think others need us to be, we unpack how self-betrayal can look like kindness on the surface but feel like emptiness underneath.

We also reflect on the cultural reactions surrounding Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime performance and what the strong opinions revealed about identity, discomfort, expectations, and collective pressure. Why does expression trigger some people? Why do others feel fiercely protective? And how does it mirror the ways we silence ourselves to avoid rejection?

This conversation weaves together nervous system awareness, attachment patterns, and the deep human need for connection. When fitting in becomes more important than staying aligned, something inside us starts to erode.

Healing begins when we notice the moment we override our own voice.

If you’ve ever felt torn between acceptance and authenticity, this episode is for you.

  • Emotional Regulation Explained: Why We Repeat What Hurts Us
    2026/02/24

In this first episode of Soul Recovery (Therapy Podcast), we introduce the heart behind the show and explore how childhood environments shape the patterns we carry into adulthood. We unpack trauma, nervous system wiring, and why what felt “normal” growing up often becomes what we unconsciously recreate in relationships. If you’ve ever wondered why certain dynamics feel familiar, even when they don’t feel good, this conversation lays the foundation. This episode is about awareness. Because healing begins when we understand what our body learned before we had the language to explain it.
