As we gear up for next week's 150th episode of Mixtape Monday (with a surprise special guest), I play around with some melodic tracks and proper house. I probably wouldn't play these tracks in this order at a show, but I was feeling the melodics and having some freestyle fun. Mixtape Monday has always had an eclectic base, and the last few episodes have mainly been electronic. At 9 tracks and over 40 minutes, your ears are in for a treat. Here are some early 80s jams that definitely fit the tone for Sunday Vibes. Most of them I grew up on, from my days of watching MTV and BET before I started kindergarten (1984 and before). This to me is what makes DJing fun — being able to share my experiences with you, the listener. A lot of current music today has been sampled from this era or even earlier, which makes doing mashups and blending genres that much more fun.
