  • S2 Ep2: The Establishment Blues
    2026/08/04

In this episode, we’ll be looking at how disappointing it is when public figures we like and admire become part of the establishment. That is, when they accept so-called honours such as knighthoods and OBEs.

Why does this bother us? It's complicated, nuanced, thorny.

Our special guest is the writer, author, artist, and pop culture historian Justin Lewis, who joins series regulars David Myers and Sprite Kirkwood.

  • S1 Ep6: Aliens: Close Encounters of the *MEH* Kind?
    2025/12/20

In this episode we'll be discussing the highly probable existence of life on other planets and why no one really seems to care.

The 2023 Unidentified Aerial Phenomena hearings, in which three seemingly plausible US military veterans testified under oath, appeared to confirm that we've already made first contact, and yet this potentially world-changing information was met with an almost universal shrug of indifference.

In an attempt to find out why, we spoke to psychologist David Myers, film critic Eddie Harrison, the esteemed scientist Professor James M. Scobbie, and our resident Gen Z correspondent Sprite Kirkwood.

    It's a pretty wild journey.

We'd also like to thank actor Laura Hogg for lending her voice to the episode and, as always, musician Dan Jackson for mixing our theme tune.

March of the Dribcots by Joe Meek

  • S1 Ep3: 2016: Annus Horribilis
    2025/10/01
In this episode we’re looking at 2016, a profoundly disappointing year in which the Grim Reaper culled as many beloved celebrities as they could, while also finding time to oversee Britain’s disastrous exit from the European Union and the first inauguration of unending human failure President Donald Trump.

Was David Bowie the anchor being who stabilised our universe? Did the end of the world start here? And why did Generation Z come together over the tragic death of a silverback gorilla? All these questions and more will be answered.
