⚡ welcome to episode 3 of S7, TWISTED! Today, we are talking all about one of the most infamous psychological experiments from the 1960’s, the MILGRAM EXPERIMENT. This experiment was all about exploring the human mind and obedience, but some people think this experiment took things too far… tune in to see what you think. We’ll also discuss some modern day takes on this experiment from famous illusionists such as Derren Brown.

  • 2. Ape + Child raised as siblings?! + getting cancelled when accepting my nobel prize
    2025/11/19

👶🏼🐵 Welcome to Season 7 of TWISTED! This time, we’re diving head-first into the dark side of science — the unsettling experiments, the ethical lines blurred (or totally ignored), and the historical moments that make you think, “Wait… someone actually approved this?”

⚠️ WARNING: things are about to get uncomfortable. We’ll be tackling some disturbing and ethically questionable stories, but always through thoughtful, scientific discussion. And today we’re starting with one of the strangest cases in psychological research: the ape and child experiment — yes, the study where a chimpanzee was raised side-by-side with a human child as if they were siblings. It’s as wild as it sounds.

🫖 And for our brand-new laboraTEAAA segment this season, you guys are in control. You send in the questions — absolutely anything — and we’ll give you our brutally honest answers. No filter. No sugar coating. And let’s just say… one of this week’s questions involves someone getting a little too intimate with the histology paraffin wax. Yeah… It’s that kind of episode.

  • 10. The woman who discovered the opiate receptor in the brain + someone is LIVING in the lab?
    2025/09/24

🧠 welcome to the LAST episode of OVERLOOKED, the series where we shine a light on the women in STEM who history often left in the shadows. For our last episode, we’re talking all about Candace Pert, the groundbreaking neuroscientist who discovered the opioid receptor. Her work not only changed our understanding of how the brain and body communicate but also opened doors for modern medicine. She challenged the establishment, broke barriers as a woman in science, and proved just how powerful persistence and brilliance can be.

😳 And don’t forget this week’s LaboraTEAAAA… we’ve got a wild anonymous story about someone who suspects a colleague might actually be living in the lab. Empty protein bar wrappers, toothpaste left behind, the whole thing. Tune in to hear what we think!

🧮 We’re BACK with the ninth episode of… OVERLOOKED - this series we are looking on the other side of HIS-tory at some of the most iconic women in stem. This was a highly requested theme so we can’t wait for you to listen! You’ve probably heard of Alan Turing—the mathematical genius who cracked the Nazi Enigma code and helped end World War II.

He’s the war hero, the pioneer of modern computing, the face of genius under pressure.

But what if we told you… he didn’t do it alone?

Behind the war rooms, the machines, and the myth was someone else—

a woman in the shadows, armed not with weapons, but with numbers, logic, and relentless precision. She didn’t seek the spotlight, but her mind helped alter the course of history.

Her name? Joan Clarke. Tune in to learn all about her pioneering work.

😳 And don’t forget the laboraTEAAAA! This week are back with some crazy what would you do if scenarios. Listen in to find out what we think!

  • 8. The woman who discovered Radium + my lab mate STOLE my presentation
    2025/09/10

⚡ Welcome to EP8 of OVERLOOKED! Today we’re exploring the story of one of the most legendary scientists in history… and yet, someone who still had to fight to be recognised: Marie Curie.

The year is 1898. In a cramped Paris laboratory, Marie and her husband Pierre discover two new elements: polonium and radium. These glowing substances would open the door to the age of radioactivity, transforming medicine and physics forever. But the discoveries came at a cost. Years of exposure slowly poisoned Marie, and despite winning two Nobel Prizes in different sciences (QUEEN), she was denied a seat at the French Academy of Sciences, SIMPLY because she was a woman.

🪄 Without Marie Curie, we wouldn’t have X-rays in hospitals, cancer radiotherapy, or even our modern understanding of radioactivity. S

🫨 And for this week’s LaboraTEAAAA… someone wrote in about their lab mate STEALING their slides from their computer and presenting them at a conference. The AUDACITY… We have thoughts.

  • 6. The woman who mapped memory + I HATE my research but I've got a year left....
    2025/08/27

🧠 welcome to EP SIX of OVERLOOKED, wellllll today we’re exploring the story of one of the most brilliant, yet often forgotten, neuroscientists of our time… Brenda Milner.

The year is 1953. A young patient, known only as H.M., undergoes brain surgery to cure his severe epilepsy. The procedure stops his seizures, but leaves him unable to form new memories. Enter Brenda Milner, who, through years of careful observation and experiments, makes a groundbreaking discovery: memory isn’t just one thing. There are multiple systems in the brain, and H.M.’s story would forever change how we understand learning, memory, and the human mind.

🪄 Without Brenda Milner, we might never have known that short-term and long-term memory rely on different brain regions. Her work opened the door to modern neuroscience and showed us how fragile and fascinating our memory really is.

🫨 And for this week’s LaboraTEAAAA… we're doing another WWYD if?! You guys submitted some funny ones this time round, and some that got us questioning if they were based on your own real life scenarios.
