Venus retrograde is coming, and we'll be going deep.

Venus stations retrograde in Scorpio on October 3, travels back into Libra, and doesn’t station direct until November 13. Add the pre- and post-retrograde shadows, and we’re looking at more than three months of Venus asking us to pay attention to what we value, what we want, and whether the lives we’re living match either one.

In this episode of Sky Notes, Tracy and Lillian dig into Venus retrograde in Scorpio and Libra: the things we’ve buried, the stories we’ve attached ourselves to, power and boundaries, changing values, relationships, money, creativity, and what happens when the goalposts quietly move.

We also talk about the eight-year Venus cycle and why it’s worth looking back at what was happening in your life eight years ago; Erin Sullivan’s fascinating work on Venus retrograde and Venus as a filter for our values; Stormie Grace’s “slow soak” approach to Scorpio; the difference between emotions as information and emotions as instructions; and why Caroline Casey’s connection between Venus, beauty and art gives us a much richer Venus than the flimsy “love and pretty things” version astrology sometimes hands us.

Most importantly, this retrograde isn’t only about digging things up. Venus eventually returns to Libra, giving us an opportunity to repair, renegotiate and decide what comes forward with us. And if things get heated along the way, we have one very useful question: Am I willing for this to end permanently?

If the answer is no, maybe don’t blow it up just yet.

We had a whole lot more to say about this week’s astrology than what made it into this video. 😂

We originally recorded a big section on the **Mars–Jupiter square**, then got interrupted and paused the recording. When we came back, that entire first part of the video had vanished. Gone. Apparently Mercury wasn’t finished with us yet.

So, we pick things up with **Mars square Neptune** as we move through the space between August’s two eclipses.

Mars square Neptune can bring fatigue, overwhelm and the frustrating feeling that you should be doing something without being entirely sure what that something is. But it can also be deeply creative and inspirational—and sometimes the most productive response is to stop pushing and give yourself some room.

From there, we move into a fascinating Monday with **Mercury trine Saturn and Venus sextile Jupiter**, followed by several unusually quiet days with the Moon in Scorpio. That quiet gives us some space to go inward, think about boundaries and protection, and process what eclipse season has already stirred up.

Later in the week, **Venus opposes Saturn**, bringing relationships, values, people pleasing and boundaries into sharper focus.

And then Leo season has one final surprise for us.

Before the Sun enters Virgo on Saturday, it crosses the **South Node at 29° Leo**—one last opportunity to release some of the baggage we've accumulated before we get a much-needed return to Earth energy.

This week is a big one.

Mercury finally leaves Cancer and moves into Leo, Venus is busy making aspects from her own sign of Libra, Mars moves into Cancer — and right in the middle of it all, we have the August 12 total solar eclipse in Leo.

We take a closer look at this South Node eclipse and what it might be asking us to release, while also looking at all the astrology happening around it. With plenty of fire and air in the chart, it may be very easy to get swept up in ideas, overthinking and nervous-system overload. Grounding matters.

We also talk about the unusual gift of having the Moon, Venus and Sun all in their own signs leading into the eclipse, planetary remediation and charitable giving, and the importance of asking a deceptively simple question: What do I actually want?

The eclipse itself isn't tightly connected to everything else happening in the chart, which gives us an interesting possibility: life can keep happening while one particular area asks for our attention, release and adjustment.

After the eclipse, things lighten up. Mercury sextiles Venus and meets Jupiter in Leo, and the weekend offers some lovely energy for writing, creativity, generosity, self-expression and maybe even a little karaoke. Just keep in mind that Mars square Neptune is building in the background. If you're feeling tired, let yourself daydream. Sometimes the astrology isn't asking you to push harder.
