Jesus did not leave us the option of seeing Him as merely a wise teacher or religious leader. In John 8:52–59, He makes a staggering claim about His identity: “Before Abraham was, I AM.” This Sunday, we’ll consider what Jesus meant and why trusting who He truly is changes everything.

John 8:37-51

Who am I? Few questions carry more weight in our culture today. We are surrounded by competing voices telling us that identity is something we discover within ourselves, construct for ourselves, or ask others to affirm. In John 8:37–51, Jesus approaches identity from a radically different direction. He moves beyond ancestry, outward religion, and personal claims to reveal that our deepest spiritual identity is shown by whom we listen to, what we believe, and how we respond to Him. Before asking, “Who am I?” perhaps we need to ask, “Whose am I?”
