Hey there, friend. Welcome. I'm Julia Cartwright, and I'm so glad you're here. You know, it's Thursday morning, and if you're anything like my friends right now, you might be feeling that particular kind of tired where your shoulders have basically become your earrings and your to-do list feels like it was written by someone who doesn't sleep. So today, we're doing something special. We're not rushing through relaxation. We're actually going to sink into it. Together. Let's start by just finding a comfortable seat wherever you are. On your couch, in your car during lunch, the floor, I don't care. Just somewhere you won't topple over in the next few minutes. And if you need to adjust, adjust. Your body knows what it needs. Now, without changing anything about your breathing yet, just notice it. Notice where you feel your breath. Maybe it's at your nostrils, cool air coming in, warm air going out. Maybe it's in your chest. Maybe your belly. There's no right place. Just notice. Now here's what we're going to do, and I call this the sand sinking technique because it literally saved my life during a particularly chaotic season. Imagine your whole body is made of the finest sand, the kind that slips through your fingers at the beach. With each exhale, imagine a little bit of that sand just releasing, settling down, becoming heavier and slower. Breathe in for a count of four. And as you exhale for a count of six, feel yourself sinking. Your head gets a little heavier. Your shoulders drop just slightly. That tight place in your jaw? That releases. Keep going. In for four. Out for six. And that sand keeps settling. Your chest sinking. Your hips sinking into whatever's supporting you. In for four. Out for six. Again. And again. You're not trying to be calm. You're just allowing gravity and breath to do their job. In for four. Out for six. Two more times at your own pace now. Just sinking. Settling. Like you've finally found solid ground after a long day of floating. Beautiful. Now, here's the thing about relaxation that nobody talks about. It's a skill. And you just practiced it. The next time you feel wound up, you know exactly what to do. Find that sand. Count that breath. Let yourself sink. Carry this with you today. When tension creeps back in, you have this. You have sand and breath and gravity on your team. Thank you so much for spending these few minutes with me on Relaxation. Please subscribe so you never miss a practice.
