This playlist brings together experiences of others alongside my own. It includes conversations, interviews, and perspectives from people with different relationships to psychosis and schizophrenia—whether through lived experience, professional roles, or personal connection. The focus is on widening the lens beyond a single viewpoint. The aim is to highlight both shared patterns and important differences, offering a broader, more nuanced understanding of these experiences as they show up across different lives.

This playlist contains my psychosis interviews, where I speak to different people about their experiences of psychosis, schizophrenia, and related mental health difficulties in their own words. In this series, I ask each guest the same set of open questions and try not to interrupt or challenge their answers. The aim is not to decide who is right or wrong, and not to promote any single theory of psychosis, but to create space for people to describe how they understand their own experiences.Topics that come up in these interviews often include:* First episodes of psychosis* What psychosis means to different people* Recovery, relapse, and long-term change* Medication, therapy, and mental health services* Meaning, creativity, and unusual experiences* Stigma, diagnosis, and identity* Different ways of making sense of mental illnessPeople in this playlist do not always agree with each other, and they do not always agree with me. That is intentional. The goal of the series is to show how varied these experiences and interpretations can be, rather than to present a single correct explanation. These interviews are not clinical assessments and not medical advice. They are conversations about lived experience, personal beliefs, and individual ways of understanding psychosis.

  • Side Quest Stories: John's Story
    2026/03/22

A collection of long-form interviews about psychosis, schizophrenia, and unusual experiences. These conversations are mostly with people who have lived experience of psychosis, as well as discussions informed by psychology, psychiatry, and my PhD research. The focus is on understanding what these experiences are like from the inside, rather than reducing them to symptoms or diagnoses.Topics include voices, delusions, recovery, trauma, medication, meaning, identity, and the difficulty of putting these experiences into words. Many of the interviews are slow, reflective, and open-ended, and are intended for people who want a deeper, more human understanding of psychosis.Nothing here should be taken as medical advice. These videos are for discussion, education, and shared experience.
