We're just over a month from the premiere of Blade Runner 2099, and the promotional storm is beginning to gather some steam! Our friend - Perfect Organism team member Andie GeekGirl - sat down with 2099's showrunner Silka Luisa to discuss her personal history with Blade Runner, what she hopes audiences take from the show, and so much more.

We're grateful to Andie for making this interview happen (and for grabbing our episode art!), and we're so grateful to Silka and her team for finding time for us amidst all the craziness that is New York Comic-Con.

This is not a formal podcast episode. The audio presented here comes from a documentary essay, The Parable and the Prophet | Blade Runner and the Future of Humanity, which debuted on YouTube on October 8, 2026.

As we approach the release of Blade Runner 2099, it felt timely to revisit the words and warnings of Philip K. Dick, author of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, and explore the importance of empathy in a world that seems to have lost its connection to the word, its meaning, and perhaps most troublingly, the practice of it.

Through the worlds of Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049, this documentary explores the increasingly blurred boundaries between humanity and technology, the growing influence of corporations over our lives, and what happens when empathy becomes something we speak of more often than we actually practice.

The Parable and the Prophet was an independent undertaking that required weeks of writing, research, editing, and production. It was a deeply personal project, made out of an enduring love for these films and the belief that the questions raised by Philip K. Dick have never been more relevant than they are today.

In this episode, the gang is all back together again. Returning contributing hosts Peter From Wisconsin, and Micah Greene join Patrick and Jaime to discuss the latest trailer from Amazon's Blade Runner 2099 series.

From Tyrell's pyramid, to the memory orbs featured in Blade Runner 2049, the team talks about every scrap on display in the new trailer. This is an exciting time to be a fan of Blade Runner. We're about to receive 3-4 movies worth of Blade Runner and we couldn't be more excited.

We hope you enjoy!
