In this episode, I talk with two amazing art models I've already had the honor of drawing in online sessions: Claudia Avila and Vanessa Montoya. In August 2026, they created a challenge for art models called "Movi miento de modelos" (Art model movement).

The intention of this project is to remember their foremothers, models who came before them, and reflect on the history of art models and their valuable contribution to the art world. Let's be honest: It's hard work to inspire.

29 models were invited to reflect each on one model of the past and create their own artistic video-based piece of art. These videos were posted on social media, and the artistic community around these two incredible humans was invited to sketch and paint from these incredible pieces of inspiration. (You can see the work done here: Instagram @movimientodemodelos .)

The final act of the project was a spectacular life drawing marathon where all models participating posed for 15 minutes. (The cover art of this podcast is from the marathon, by the way; @emilymetalskin representing Luisa Casati.)

Claudia (she/her) from Buenos Aires, Argentina, is an art and fashion model, a content creator, and visual artist. Claudia's work as a model and activist is all about body diversity and inclusivity.

About Vanessa Montoya
Vanessa (she/her), from Mexico City, is a historian, art model, and cultural manager. She is the founder of "La Postura" (magazine) and a member of the Art Models in Resistance Movement, a collective dedicated to the dignification and recognition of the work of art models.

Alexander works as a sexological bodyworker and somatic counselor (body awareness). He is also a passionate (Butoh) dancer, sexual health speaker for trans and non-binary people.
