  • Sunday Sermon | The Gospel of Mark: Staying Dependent
    2026/10/05

In 1967, three Apollo 1 astronauts died in a launch rehearsal fire, and the investigation found that too much experience, not too little, had dulled the team's awareness of the danger. Success can make us forget our weaknesses.

In this message from our study of the Gospel of Mark, Pastor Jason Smith looks at Mark 9:14-29, where Jesus' disciples, who had previously cast out demons, find themselves powerless before a desperate father and his son. Jason unpacks the kind of unbelief that says "I've got this," what prayerlessness reveals about our hearts, and what we can learn from a father who prayed, "I believe; help my unbelief."

    Scripture: Mark 9:14-29
    Series: Gospel of Mark
    Speaker: Pastor Jason Smith

  • Recharge | The Global Church: To the Ends of the Earth
    2026/10/01

Pastor Chad opens a new chapter in our Global Church series by jumping into the book of Acts, starting with Jesus' final words before His ascension: "You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8). That single verse becomes the outline for the whole book — and this episode walks through its earliest, most explosive chapter.

On the day of Pentecost, Jews "from every nation under heaven" gathered in Jerusalem heard the gospel preached in their own languages, an early glimpse of the Great Commission in motion. Peter's sermon cuts straight to the heart of the crowd who had crucified Jesus, and 3,000 are added to the church in a single day — forcing the earliest believers to innovate almost overnight just to care for one another. The episode closes with the story of Stephen, the church's first martyr, and the persecution that scattered believers as far as Antioch — proof that what was meant for harm, God used for good. Along the way, Pastor Chad shares a firsthand report from a missions conference in Dallas, where churches and organizations are working toward a bold goal: a church for every 1,000 people on the planet.

  • Sunday Sermon | Missions Sunday 2026
    2026/09/28

This week, we paused our study through the Gospel of Mark for Mission Sunday, a chance to celebrate what God has done through FBC Boerne's mission partners this year and look at what Scripture says about every believer's role in that work.

In this message, Missions Pastor Chad Mason looks at Ephesians 4:11-16, where Paul explains why God gives the church leaders: not so that a few people can do the work of ministry, but so every believer is equipped to do it. Chad walks through what it means for the whole body of Christ to grow and serve together in love, and shares how God has grown FBC Boerne's missions ministry so that every believer has a place to use their gifts, inside these walls and around the world.

    Scripture: Ephesians 4:11-16
