Welcome.
This series is about a question I’ve spent much of my career thinking about: what actually creates competitive advantage when products, technology, and capabilities increasingly look the same?
I’m interested in the decisions underneath the headlines — how companies translate strategy into products, platforms, customer experiences, operating models, and ultimately business results.
In each episode, I’ll take a company or an industry problem and develop a strategic thesis. We’ll look at the business and market context, identify the tension management is facing, examine the available evidence, consider the strategic choices, and ask what I would prioritize if I were making the decision.
Financial services will be a major focus, but not the only one. We’ll also look across industries for companies and situations that reveal something useful about product strategy, transformation, platforms, growth, and value creation.
The goal isn’t to criticize companies from the sidelines or pretend there’s one obvious answer. Business decisions are made with imperfect information and competing priorities. I’ll distinguish what we know from what I’m inferring, challenge my own assumptions, and explain what could make a thesis wrong.
This is analysis for people interested in how strategy actually becomes execution.
Thanks for listening.
