Today's reading covers Judges 3 and Proverbs 14:9–12. The reflection traces how God leaves certain nations in Canaan to test Israel, only for Israel to drift into mixed marriages and idol worship — setting off the cycle of sin, oppression, and deliverance that plays out through the first three judges: Othniel, whose leadership brings forty years of rest; Ehud, whose left-handed advantage defeats King Eglon of Moab and secures eighty years of rest; and Shamgar, who strikes down the Philistines.
