Last episode Dr. Megan Anna Neff talked with us about the fundamentals for managing our nervous system. We talked about the window of tolerance, managing pain, andbecoming aware of what is hijacking our nervous system. In this episode Carole Jean Whittington and Philip will talk about one important element to the Autistic’s nervous system called Practicing the Pause. The power of the pause improvesself-awareness. When we pause before reacting to stimuli we also take time to reclaim our autonomy and protect the power of our choices. Later in this episode Carole Jean and I will talk about how practicing the pause is important for late identified Autistics and ADHDers as they meet the challenges ofsocietal negativity on many of our intersectional identities.
