概要
On 9 October 1911, an accidental bomb explosion at a revolutionary headquarters in Hankou exposed a network inside the New Army. Qing authorities raided the site, seized the membership register and papers, arrested several revolutionaries, and executed Liu Fuji, Peng Chufan, and Yang Hongsheng. 💥📜 The divergence begins if the seized papers lead to the arrest of the exposed plotters before the evening of 10 October. That alternative was genuinely available because the register identified names and links, and Ruicheng, the Viceroy of Huguang, already had authority and warning of a possible mutiny. Most plausibly, the documented 10 October sequence is interrupted: the Eighth Engineer Battalion cannot launch the planned seizure of the ammunition depot, and Qing forces keep Wuhan’s arsenal and offices. A security sweep through exposed links across the three cities is the likeliest mechanism, though only as a temporary disruption. Beyond that point, the episode says certainty stops: the record cannot establish whether a delayed mutiny, another unit, or another province would rise. Glitch of History examines how the register was seized, how the first move was interrupted, and what could or could not follow from arrests in Hankou.
