We discuss some of the key findings from our report on making the value of security more visible, and importantly, what those findings mean in practice.

We explore the challenge of moving beyond traditional measures of security activity and cost; how security's contribution can be understood in terms that matter to the wider organisation; and what needs to change if security is to be recognised for the value it creates.

Dr David Naysadorai is a security professional and academic from Malaysia. He started his security career in banking and later gained a Master’s Degree in Management (specialising in security) and a Doctor of Business Administration (specialising in the governance and professionalization of private security). In December 2020 he received the Leadership Award of Excellence from the Global Academics Research Academy.

In this discussion you will hear David discussing his perspective on the Malaysian security sector characterised on the one hand by a lack of strong central governance, and on the other major institutions being able to employ private personnel with full police powers for use in their private space. David outlines his own thoughts on the key barriers to progress.

Reck Reck is a New Zealand security professional with a background in sales, marketing, and operations and was a relative late comer to the security sector. He specialises in physical security and works as a Business Development Manager and, hence is well placed to provide insights close to the frontline on what is working and what isn’t.

Mykola Mikheiev is a security professional from Ukraine. A former diplomat, which included work with the UN secretariat in New York, he has extensive international experience, which has included working for the private security sector in Afghanistan and Iraq. His areas of expertise include the gas and oil industries, maritime security where he has tackled piracy. His qualifications include a degree in Law and a Masters in International Studies.

Godfried Hendriks is a renowned volunteer leader and is a former President of ASIS International. He has had a distinguished security career, that includes working in security product development and security consultancy.
