A car enters the Sacramento River.
A 911 call is made.
Emergency response begins—then slows down.
Within hours, the incident is downgraded.
No search the next day.
Recovery takes four days.
Jeff Anderson is found inside his car.
Authorities say it was an accident-

But we have questions.

Secrets Beyond the Sacramento River is an investigative long form true crime podcast brought to you by credentialed victim advocate Jules Thorp and non profit leader Jen Rivera. Jeff Anderson, 40, entered the Sacramento River while inside his vehicle the evening of September 9th, 2023. Despite immediate 911 calls from eye witnesses, his car and body would not be recovered until September 14th, 2023, when upon recovery, it was noted that Jeff's car's transmission was in "park" and his manual car key was in the front pocket of his pants. Immediately, tips began flooding in to Jeff's grieving family that Jeff was physically assaulted at a local bar just hours before the crash. The eye witnesses begin to change their statements-
where once they indicated they saw two cars, they know vehemently claim it was always just Jeff's car.
SBTSR was never intended to focus solely on how Jeff died-
it was taken on as a promise to his family to seek out the answer of, "What happened to Jeff Anderson?"
Does the available evidence, investigative records, digital data, and circumstances surrounding Jeff's death tell a completely different story than the official California Highway Patrol ruling of a motor vehicle accident caused by an impaired driver?

We've been investigating deep into Jeff's life leading up to and after his death and we can confidently say that a proper investigation was never conducted. There were zero follow ups by law enforcement about multiple assault tips, zero efforts to explain how Jeff's keys were in his pocket or how his car was in park, and negligent follow up about the claim there was a second car with Jeff when he entered the water. Jeff's cell phone was never recovered- why didn't law enforcement track it? Why did they ignore Jeff's family when they reported that Jeff's Facebook accounts were showing online and active after his death?

And why were the multiple log in attempt alerts to his social media accounts after his death written off by law enforcement?

During our reporting, we take you, the listener, along as we dissect data from digital accounts, maps, first hand witness statements, and interviews. Covering the night Jeff died, the days preceding the recovery of his vehicle and body, the inconsistent witness accounts, the recovery itself, autopsy findings, digital and location evidence, and the investigative decisions themselves-
we present it all for the listener to decide.

The heart of Secrets Beyond the Sacramento is accountability. Jeff Anderson's family deserved a proper investigation from the beginning.

Our foundational belief is this:
Jeff Anderson deserved better in life and continues to deserve better in death.
