Sam Darnold’s hip injury might sound serious, but the Seahawks are staying calm—no backup QB tryouts mean they’re confident in Drew Lock to handle the load. Darnold’s expected back by Week Three, giving Seattle a buffer with Lock stepping in for Week Two against Arizona. Coach Macdonald called the injury “really, really good news,” and with a favorable schedule ahead, the team’s patience could pay off big.

Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold’s Week 1 injury sidelines him for a couple of weeks, but Drew Lock stepped in and led the team to a win without turnovers. While Lock looks solid as the interim starter, the real concern is what happens if he goes down — Jalen Milroe, the third-stringer, has zero NFL passing experience. With GM John Schneider typically keeping three QBs on the roster, Seattle is likely to bring in a veteran backup. Potential options include Kyle Trask (a former top college passer), Bailey Zappe (with Patriots starting experience), or Jake Browning (a familiar face with Huskies ties). All three could provide crucial depth without needing to start.

Sam Darnold’s glute injury is now officially described as a unique soft tissue issue — no hip joint involvement, and the Seahawks are calling it a short-term setback. No return date yet, but insiders like Rapoport and Garafolo have long predicted a quick recovery. The focus is on daily progress, with optimism for a relatively fast comeback.
