Scammers are posing as lawyers for distant relatives, demanding urgent cash payments—often via gift cards or crypto—and even sending couriers to your door. Law enforcement confirms these are fake. Legitimate officials never ask for immediate payment or use surprise visits. If you get such a call, hang up and verify through official channels before giving any info or money. Stay alert—these scams prey on family worry to rush you into handing over cash.

Bryan Kohberger returns to court on October 15th for a critical hearing seeking to have his judge disqualified — part of his bid to overturn his guilty plea through post-conviction relief. At 31, he filed a handwritten petition in July alleging ineffective counsel, coercion, and threats that pressured him into pleading guilty. His new legal team, including Greg Rauch and Jason Goldman, plans to submit an updated petition by November 13th — four years after the horrific murders of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. The prosecution is pushing back with transcripts showing Kohberger’s admissions, while the judge has ordered lawyers to justify sealing a supplemental filing. This pivotal moment could reshape his life sentence without parole.

A chilling chase unfolds in King County, Washington, as Carlos Villagomez allegedly assaults his fiancée, forces her out of a moving car on I-90, and flees with her two young children still in the backseat. Washington State Patrol tracked him to Kittitas County, deployed spike strips, and safely recovered the kids—unharmed. Despite his fiancée’s courtroom testimony painting him as a generally good person, the judge didn’t soften the charges. Villagomez entered a not guilty plea and is jailed on $200K bail, with his next court date set for September 29th.

Seattle’s police are about to release internal texts from the July 26 Bite of Seattle shooting, sparking fresh scrutiny after the Mayor’s office delayed key updates — including omitting critical details like whether it was a targeted attack between acquaintances.
