Hockey is back, and Rob and Shylo are doing something different for Episode 61: watching the Vancouver Canucks take on the Edmonton Oilers live, with all the excitement, frustration, questionable officiating and spontaneous reactions that come with it.

Heading into the season, expectations couldn't be much lower. The Canucks are rebuilding, the roster is full of unanswered questions, and neither host expects a playoff run. But there's genuine excitement around the team's younger players, particularly Zeev Buium, Tom Willander and Braeden Cootes.

Then the puck drops, and suddenly Vancouver starts giving fans something to cheer about.

Paul Cotter makes an immediate impression, Kevin Lankinen delivers some spectacular saves, and the Canucks find ways to capitalize against an Edmonton team that looks surprisingly vulnerable. Even Elias Pettersson gets in on the action, prompting another debate about his hockey IQ, skating and what a successful season might look like.

Along the way, Rob and Shylo discuss the Canucks' goaltending depth, potential trades, Edmonton's roster construction, and the challenge of balancing winning games with developing a young team.

For two fans preparing themselves for another difficult season, opening night offers an unexpected reminder of why they keep coming back.

We're fans, just like you.
