In the first episode of Season 2, Relationships & Tender Seasons, I am talking about what it means to love someone whose experience you cannot fully understand.
During perimenopause, I often struggled to explain the exhaustion, brain fog, anxiety, and emotional changes happening inside me .Jason loved me, but he could not personally feel what I was going through. Overtime, we began learning that support does not always require perfect understanding. Sometimes it means listening without trying to fix everything, believing the other person’s experience, and remaining present when neither of you has the right words.
I also share how being a highly sensitive person has affected the way I experience conversations, conflict, and changes in another person’s mood. We explore the difference between misunderstanding and disrespect, the importance of asking clearly for what we need, and how couples can return to one another after a difficult conversation.
Being loved does not always mean being completely understood. It should mean that your heart is treated with respect.
