Anyone who's a parent can remember that first night at home with their first child. In the hospital, you had nurses constantly checking on the baby, and they knew what they were doing. They were a great backup, which was important since we'd never been permanently responsible for a tiny human before. But once we got home, it was just us, and I don't know about you, but I felt overwhelmed.
Church security and law enforcement can feel like that. A heavy weight of responsibility that settles on our shoulders, sits in our gut, and lives in those prayers that we whisper under our breath when no one's looking. But that weight was never meant for us to carry alone.
The best thing we can do in those moments is not to grit our teeth and try harder, but to cast our cares boldly and decisively on the Lord. We shouldn't tiptoe around our burdens when we approach God like we're afraid we're going to bother Him. We can just give them to Him with confidence, knowing He catches every single one and has the strength to handle what's crushing us.
