概要

Kev and Randy take to the mics once a week to talk about a song from the catalogue of the enigmatic, brilliant, and sometimes flawed rock legends Queen. Each week a song will be chosen at random so that the boys won't know what track they'll be reviewing. Kev comes into the podcast as a Queen afficionado, while Randy is a more casual fan, but has a huge wealth of knowledge about recording, performing, and music in general. At the end of each episode, both will either upvote or downvote the song and we'll take to social media to see what the listeners think!

"Trump's gotta be careful with all these lies, man. Let me tell you a story Dara, about a little boy named Pinocchio. He was a little wooden puppet who came to life because he was possessed by a demon. And he would go around and he would lie to everyone cos of the devil. And then all the villagers, they put him on a bonfire and they burned his soul to ash. And Trump should learn, you... never trust a puppet."

    - James Acaster on the song we're spinning today (I think...)

From rocking town to town to washing freezer bags ... one thing leads to another! Well, it's not a "Greatest Hit", but it is a great song. Unless you savagely butcher it and reduce to less than half its length. But what kind of utter fucking muppet would do something that stupid? We're looking at you America! It's another corker from the debut album. It's another Freddie track. It's only "Liar"!

If Randy were to title this podcast, he’d probably call it "A great six minute tune" or possibly, "Does Roger even own a fucking tambourine?"

NOTE: Skip forward to 20:16 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

The music at the end of the episode is the sensational groove-soaked rocker "Space Queen", which is kinda fitting when you hear the outro..... Go watch it NOW or risk the very safety of your immortal soul! https://youtu.be/pq_mCwY_a6Y

Stax. Otis Redding. Carla Thomas. Booker T. Jones. Isaac Hayes. Steve Cropper. Donald Dunn. Al Jackson Jr. Wayne Jackson. 1967. King and Queen. Lowell Fulson.

How much more soul can you be? The answer is "none"; "None more soul"!

If Kev were to title this episode, he'd probably call it "Tramp", or possibly, "Minks and rats and frogs and squirrels and rabbits, oh my!"

The twenty second installment in this podcast-within-a-podcast covers a song submitted by Kofi regular Al Dudeney, who is catering very much to the Cardinal's tastes here with a late 60s duet between the legendary Otis Redding and Carla Thomas; "Tramp" from the last studio album Otis recorded before his tragic, untimely death, "King and Queen".

The song at the end is the Randy Woods Band horn-led remake of Absofunkinlutely's classic cut "Grow Your Love". You can find it here: https://youtu.be/fmyzddSY4Qc

  • Seven Seas of Rhye

Kev finds out that Nshima isn't the name of some peculiar rash that Randy picked up in Zambia, but rather, a corn meal porridge that Randy... picked up in Africa. Again, and again, and again. The Cardinal is back and he's here to regale us with tales of boom mics and bad burgers! And you know what, he didn't even get a tan! Ah well, the next time he flies across a couple of seas, maybe he'll cross five more and get a story out of it.

We're spinning up a monster. A greatest hit. Maybe the wider world's first real taste of that delicious flavour that we call "None more Queen"! Freddie wrote it, Brian helped, and everyone played the ever loving shit out of it. Also, my Uncle Frank was well impressed with it! It's time to get nautical and mythical as we travel to the Seven Seas of Rhye!

If Randy were to title this podcast, he’d probably call it "Dude, this is a great tune", or possibly, "They just don't write like that anymore!"

NOTE: Skip forward to 21:07 if wanna get straight into the manifestations and wheel spin.

The music at the end of the episode is the bitingly topical "Big Brother" from Absofunkinlutely's red album, Blues Kid City. Randy gets political and lays out why a surveillance state is a really fucking bad idea. It's also got a killer, KILLER groove! Go lay it down here : https://youtu.be/Yq3LsEABrnQ
