Peace is something everyone wants—but biblical peace is far deeper than a quiet life or the absence of problems.

In Season 2, Episode 9 of the Scripture Matters Podcast, “Peace Matters,” Jonathan Sanford and Cliff Thompson explore three dimensions of peace revealed in Scripture: peace with God, peace with others, and peace within.

Beginning with the truth that sin separates us from God, this conversation considers how genuine peace begins with reconciliation through Jesus Christ. Scripture Matters Podcast — Season 2, Episode 8: “Worship Matters”

We can prepare our clothes, gather the family, grab our Bibles, make it to the building on time—and still arrive without ever preparing our hearts to worship.

In this episode of Scripture Matters, Jonathan Sanford and Cliff Thompson have a deeply personal conversation about what it means to approach Almighty God in worship. Is worship primarily about what we “get out of it,” or have we quietly allowed the worshiper to become the customer? Jonathan also shares a childhood memory that has taken on greater meaning with age: his mother waking him on Sunday mornings with the words, “We get to go worship this morning.” Those few words become the thread running through a conversation about reverence, preparation, privilege, biblical authority, and why our presence in the assembly matters to more people than just ourselves.

One day, each of us will attend our final earthly assembly—and we probably will not know it is the last. Until then, may worship never become ordinary.

In Season 2, Episode 7 of the Scripture Matters Podcast — “Prayer Matters,” Jonathan Sanford and Cliff Thompson step into the difficult space between “Amen” and the answer.

What does Scripture teach us about prayer when we cannot see God working? Why do some prayers appear to remain unanswered? Does persistence mean we lack faith—or can continuing to pray actually be an expression of faith? And what happens when God’s answer is different from the one we requested?

Freedom is one of the most celebrated words in American life, but it can also be one of the most misunderstood. As our nation prepares for Independence Day, we use that moment of gratitude as a doorway into a deeper, Bible-centered conversation about Christian freedom and the hidden bondage that can live inside a “free” life.

We talk honestly about how the world often defines freedom as self-rule, no limits, and total personal independence, and why that definition can quietly turn into a new kind of slavery. From John 8, we sit with Jesus’ blunt diagnosis: sin is not just a mistake or a bad habit, it is bondage. Pride, bitterness, lust, anger, fear, greed, and even the need for approval can take over a heart so slowly that we stop noticing the chains.

Then we move to the good news.
