Screen Directors Playhouse presents “The Damned Don’t Cry,” episode 97, originally broadcast on NBC on April 5, 1951. Joan Crawford stars with Frank Lovejoy in this hour-long adaptation of the 1950 Warner Bros. crime drama, with the film’s director, Vincent Sherman, appearing as guest screen director.

A woman from the Texas oil fields reinvents herself as the glamorous Lorna Hansen Forbes and enters a world of New York society, gambling, ambition, and criminal power. As her new life becomes more precarious, she faces a dangerous struggle for love, status, and survival.

Old Time Radio Classics presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned and mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
