  • Why Dak Prescott is NOT the problem for the Dallas Cowboys
    2025/09/16

Scoop City is back with another can’t-miss episode after a wild Week 2 in the NFL. We’re talking The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly — starting with Joe Burrow.

James Palmer, Dianna Russini and Chase Daniel react to the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback's turf toe injury. Burrow has elected to undergo surgery and will miss a minimum of three months. Backup Jake Browning stepped in to lead a game-winning drive against Jacksonville, but can he keep Cincinnati afloat with Burrow’s extended absence looming? Or are the Bengals' playoff chances already in jeopardy?

Chase then takes us inside the Chiefs’ shocking 0-2 start. Patrick Mahomes is carrying the offense, leading the team in rushing for a second straight week, but Kansas City hasn’t opened a season this poorly since 2014.

Dak Prescott’s dominant season continued in the Cowboys’ comeback overtime win over the Giants. Prescott threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns, leading Dallas to one of the most dramatic finishes of the season so far. Chase breaks down how Prescott has elevated his play and what it means for the Cowboys’ chances in the NFC.

Our trio also analyzes this week's lowlights, headlined by second-year quarterback Caleb Williams and the Bears' continued struggles. Chicago was steamrolled by Jared Goff and the Lions, who hung 52 points on former OC and current Bears head coach Ben Johnson courtesy of Goff’s 334 yards and five touchdown passes. The crew debates what’s going wrong for Williams, how Ben Johnson is handling the head-coaching transition, and whether the Bears can find answers before the season unravels.

The Bears weren't the only scary (in a bad way) performance on Sunday; the Pittsburgh Steelers have started their 2025 season with problems on the defensive side of the ball. Pittsburgh has given up 31+ points in back-to-back games to open the season for the first time since 1989.

Finally, the crew debates which 2-0 teams are real contenders — and which 0-2 squads can still turn things around.

  • EXCLUSIVE: Zaire Franklin on why the Colts could surprise this season?
    2025/09/12

Scoop City is back with another packed episode as Week 2 of the NFL season looms. The San Francisco 49ers will likely be without quarterback Brock Purdy this Sunday against the Saints. Purdy is dealing with toe and shoulder injuries, which means former first-round pick Mac Jones could be next up under center.

The Athletic's senior NFL writer Jourdan Rodrigue joins Scoop City to talk about her article "Life as a backup NFL QB is a mental and emotional whirlwind." James Palmer and Jourdan talk about what the Niners’ offense could look like with Jones and how big of a loss George Kittle is after the All-Pro tight end was placed on injured reserve.

Jourdan also previews the Chargers vs. Raiders matchup. Justin Herbert threw for three touchdowns in the opener, while Geno Smith lit up the Patriots for 362 yards in his Raiders debut. What’s at stake in this AFC West showdown, and can rookie Brock Bowers keep making plays for Las Vegas?

Then, we’ve got a special guest: Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin joins the show. Franklin breaks down Indy’s dominant Week 1 win over Miami for Palmer and senior NFL insider Dianna Russini, his role as a defensive captain and what it’s like playing alongside new quarterback Daniel Jones and rookie tight end Tyler Warren. After leading the NFL in tackles last season, how far does Franklin think this Colts team can go?

Plus, The Athletic's senior NFL fantasy writer Jake Ciely stops by with his top karaoke picks (yes, seriously). And before we wrap, we dive into the biggest fantasy football worries heading into Week 2, including receiver duos in Detroit, Philly, and Miami.
