Sciatica is not a disease. You've been told it is. It isn't.

It's a description. Low back pain, radiating into one or both legs. Doesn't even have to be pain... Numbness. Tingling. Warmth, cold, any radiation down the leg.

The medical road is discussed. Primary care doc, more drugs, the orthopedist, the steroid shots, the knife, and eventually the pain management guy... a new problem, addiction.

What do they never consider? Cause.

They look where it hurts. That's all. The spine works as a whole, but insurance only pays for the one spot, so the problems in the neck go unexamined. Not biological reality.

And when they X-ray, they lay you down. Non-weight-bearing. Useless. Your low back works standing, under load. A standing X-ray is discussed... the only kind that shows the truth.

The steroid shots are discussed. Relief for a month, maybe a year, because the inflammation gets zapped. That inflammation was your body trying to heal you. Zap it, and the damage keeps going underneath.

And the psychology is discussed. Call sciatica a disease, and you become a victim. That victimhood serves nobody.
