Jerry Jaffe has spent most of his life in the performing arts. He’s a director, actor, writer, teacher, and stand-up comedian who has directed more than 100 plays and worked in everything from community theater and professional theater to avant-garde productions around the world. Jerry and I first met doing community theater, but as I discovered during this conversation, there was a whole lot about his story that I didn't know.

We talk about his years living and working in Japan and New Zealand, performing with a professional Japanese theater company, his experiences with stand-up comedy, and his book Religious Satire in the Era of New Atheism. Jerry also shares the story behind the one-person show he's developing about his experience with thyroid cancer, and, of course, we have to talk about the time he accidentally became a snake in front of hundreds of people in Japan. 🐍

This is a conversation about theater, comedy, creativity, and all the unexpected places a life in the arts can take you.

Brandon Hendrix and Rosebelle Easthom are a married couple, creative partners, and the filmmakers behind Finaline Productions. In this episode of Scene And Heard, they talk about how they met, how they learned to work together, and what it's like to build films from the ground up.

We talk about their first two short films, Hidden Motives and When the Sun Sets, both of which are headed to the Maumee Film Festival, and their newest project, That Little Boy, a film based on a true story that they're currently editing.

Brandon and Rosebelle also talk about the challenges of making independent films, learning from each project, balancing filmmaking with marriage, and why they've chosen to create the kinds of stories they want to see rather than waiting for someone else to make them.
