San Diego State’s basketball program is heating up for a historic 2024-25 season, kicking off with a high-stakes home-and-home series against UCLA — their first in over 30 years. Now in the Pac-12, the Aztecs get to face the Bruins at Pauley Pavilion, where they’ve never won, offering a chance to rewrite their LA record and prove their mettle against a top-tier program. Coach Dutcher praised the opportunity and the strong relationship with UCLA’s coaching staff, while also bringing back the UNLV rivalry — a familiar foe from Mountain West days — to help ease altitude challenges. With exhibition games starting in October and their opener on November 3rd, the Aztecs are poised for a competitive, buzz-filled campaign.

San Diego State’s non-conference basketball schedule is all about staying local—with 11 of 14 games in Southern California, including a brutal road opener against Arizona, home clashes with USC and Long Beach State, and a Vegas tournament packed with top-tier matchups like Iowa State and Tennessee. They’ll also face UNLV, Montana State, BYU, UCLA, and even a non-Division I team before diving into conference play—testing their mettle early and often right on their home turf.
