Today is July 14, 8:35 am Chicago time. Four hours ago, I was reading from A Year of Puritan Devotional Readings, Voices from the Past, July 14: "Do not say that you love Him (Jesus) as long as you lay sin in your bosom, which pierced His Heart" by Puritan William Gurnall. His use of bosom reminded me of Psalm 66:18 in the NIV: "If I had cherished sin in my heart (bosom), the Lord would not have listened." And I thought of people - mainly born-again believers claiming to love Jesus - and identifying themselves as gay: laying in their bosom a sin that Jesus died for. I also thought of Evangelical pastors who identify born-again believers attracted to the same sex as gay Christians, an identity derived from LGBTQ's gay is a marker of personhood. I'm calling out pastors who wear the name Evangelical, because they should know better! And I think of how God holds them accountable for mixing Christianity with LGBTQ ideology - and what Jesus said about stumbling blocks: Matt. 18:6-9 and 16:23, and Luke 17:1-2. Think of how serious it is to Jesus when stumbling blocks come from a pastor, especially when the idea of the gay Christian identifies with what it means to be gay: desiring perverted sex practices with someone of the same sex (an abomination): "which pierced his (Jesus') heart." That is what Evangelical pastors should proclaim instead of coddling people in an identity that insults Jesus' finished work on the cross. Please check out my episode on "compassion" and also the series: "The Gay Christian." The Upside-Down Kingdom Bible. And Preston Sprinkle." The Upside-Down Kingdom Bible, packaged in the NIV, contains commentaries by Sprinkle on gender and sexuality from the unbiblical and heretical perspectives of the gay Christian and sexual orientation (an invention of Sigmund Freud, a God-hater). Sprinkle is the president of The Center for Faith, Sexuality, and Gender. If you are an Evangelical pastor, I implore you to check out those episodes and unpack Sprinkle's commentaries with your church - to protect them from falling prey to them. If you aren't a pastor, those episodes are for you as well. To all my listeners, I highly recommend purchasing A Year of Puritan Devotional Readings, Voices from the Past. Also, please go to YouTube and access Jared Moore's unpacking of Sprinkle's heresies.
