Only time and results on the field will tell, but did the Kellen Moore era Saints put together ANOTHER solid draft class?? We debate our feelings on that. Definitely has that "feel" to it, especially taking into account the veteran edge added through the draft-day trade, but did we get a little too "eager" drafting some of our guys where we did? Biggest question will remain: Did we make the right call with Jordyn Tyson at No. 8 given his injury past and other stand-out prospects still on the board, especially the widely popular Caleb Downs?? PLUS, much to Corey's delight, the Saints snag NOT ONE, but TWO...DAWGS. He drops his "inside intel" on the Saints 2nd and 3rd round picks, having watched every one of their downs on Saturdays over their college careers. We give our overall takes on the draft class as a whole and what we thought stood out as an overarching theme with this class when it was all said and done. In this one, we pull up one of the more accessible user-friendly mock draft websites courtesy of PFSN (Pro Football & Sports Network) and conduct an ENTIRE SEVEN ROUND mock draft for our saints LIVE as we recorded. We did this last year, and the episode (maybe not the picks) turned out pretty damn well (in our completely objective opinion). The Saints signing of Travis E'tienne reminded us of the wealth of quality NFL players, both past and present, from our home state of Louisiana. It also got us thinking how many stars and NFL Hall of Famers, including many from New Orleans, reached their heights for other teams.

This begged the question: What players from Louisiana could have most helped the Saints if they had played for us instead of elsewhere?

We each picked one offensive and one defensive player from the past who we thought answered this question - with ONE CAVEAT - the player you pick would replace whoever the Saints had starting at that position at that time/during the years the selected player was in the league.

So, obviously Peyton Manning stands out, BUT picking him in this exercise means no Brees Era for the years that Peyton played. Would any of us DARE go there??? We also do the same exercise with current players. Definitely a fun/state-prideful/though-provoking episode.

“Slow” week since our last ep in Saints free agency, but we go a little further in depth into last week’s signings and who/what positions we see as top needs remaining. Also, of course we hit a VERY worthwhile tangent and talk new JERSEY NUMBERS with all the signings/departures plus incoming draft picks (whoever it may be). And, last but not least, the Cam saga drags on. The situation with AK remains unclear. So, what the hell is going on. Is it all just posturing from Cam or has the bridge been broken? Is AK done with football or is he looking to go somewhere else via trade? We dive head-first into all of that.

Well, the Saints certainly wasted ZERO time getting to work during the "legal tampering" period of this year's Free Agency period, signing bona fide NFL starters and impact players at HUGE positions of need. We also managed some really solid "under the radar" signings. Of course, the good news comes with an absolute dagger to the Saints fans' collective heart in apparently deciding not to re-sign Demario. To say "He'll be missed" is a gigantic understatement. BUT, in the theme of wasting no time, we reunite with a former surprise standout LB the day after Demario's departure. Definitely a solid listen, and worth hearing who out of the three of us deserves the most credit for calling it close to dead on the money as to who we'd sign and how quickly we'd sign some standout FA's. The NFL offseason marches on as the combine is officially in the books and the Free Agent “Tampering” period is only days away.
