  • Said Out Loud Episode 1: I Didn't Choose This, But I Chose to Say It Out Loud
    2026/09/01

Everyone survives something. In this first episode of Said Out Loud she introduces the podcast and lays out what season one holds: eight to ten episodes, some solo and some with guests who were in the room with her, covering local politics, grief, survival, and everything about the last year that never fit neatly into an essay.

Jenn talks about losing her husband, Frederick City Police Lieutenant Andrew "Stew" Alcorn, five years ago, and about a different kind of loss this year — a primary election that didn't go her way. She talks about the support system that made surviving any of it possible, and about choosing to run for office in the first place. "I didn't choose what got me here," she says, "but I did choose to say it out loud." Buckle up. Here we go.
