Ben Simmons is back in the NBA, signing a one-year, $3.5M deal with the Sacramento Kings after sitting out an entire season — a move sparking debate amid his injury history and past mental health hiatus. Despite chronic lower back issues and criticism from some media outlets, Simmons convinced the Kings through workouts, claiming he’s now fully healthy and ready to reclaim his former self. The Kings are betting big on his comeback as the 2025-26 season looms — will he deliver?

The Sacramento Kings are holding firm on their asking price for Domantas Sabonis, creating a standoff as other teams like the Hornets balk at both the player return and the hefty contract extension he’s seeking. With Sabonis’ long-term cost weighing heavily, franchises are hesitant to overpay — leaving the Kings stuck wanting maximum value while others play it safe. For now, Sabonis stays put in Sacramento, as the stalemate shows no signs of breaking.

The Sacramento Kings are poised to trade Domantas Sabonis, a key piece in their rebuild, as he seeks a competitive team now and they aim to clear cap space. With Sabonis’ agent lined up for complex deals, the Pelicans emerge as a surprising but logical suitor — despite their own struggles with Zion Williamson’s injury woes. A swap of Sabonis for Williamson could be a salary-matching reset for both teams, though Sacramento may look elsewhere if it doesn’t solve their immediate financial needs.
