Get ready to dive into the incredible story of Walter Ted Carter Jr., the 17th president of The Ohio State University. A 1981 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Carter’s career began in the cockpit as a Naval Flight Officer, where he set the all-time record for carrier-arrested landings with an astounding 2,016 safe touchdowns. Over his 38 years of service, he flew 125 combat missions and earned high honors, including the Distinguished Flying Cross for valor. After retiring from the Navy as a Vice Admiral, Carter transitioned to higher education, taking on the role of the 8th President of the University of Nebraska.
