  • Africa Rising: What Will the African Church Look Like in 10 Years?
    2026/08/17

What will the African Church look like in the next decade—and what will it take to prepare leaders for what is ahead?

In this closing conversation from Africa Rising, Dr. Robert K. Brown is joined by Rev. Walter Timothy and Rev. Robert Mawire to explore the opportunities and challenges facing Christian ministry across Africa.

The discussion considers the need for stronger leadership development and theological education, the relationship between spiritual power and biblical knowledge, and the growing role of technology in ministry. The panel also discusses how churches and Christian leaders can approach tools such as social media and artificial intelligence without losing the relational and spiritual foundations of ministry.

At the heart of the conversation is a compelling vision: Africa is emerging as a significant spiritual, cultural, and technological frontier, and the Church must be prepared to lead with wisdom, integrity, spiritual maturity, and innovation.

    In this episode:

    • Why Africa needs more equipped Christian leaders and teachers
    • Balancing biblical education with the power of the Holy Spirit
    • Overcoming fear of new technology in ministry
    • Using media, mobile technology, and AI for the advancement of the Gospel
    • Equipping African leaders to disciple and transform their own communities
    • Why the coming decade may represent a significant moment for the African Church

This episode is part of Africa Rising: The Future of the Church, a special series from the STAR University Podcast.

  • Digital Discipleship: Turning Online Messages into Real Conversations - Prof. Simran
    2026/08/12

Behind every comment, message, and screen is a real person. In this practical workshop, Professor Simran shows how churches and ministries can respond to people online with wisdom, patience, and genuine care — moving beyond views and likes toward relationships that help people take a next step toward Jesus.

Drawing on her experience with Seeking Jesus Online and an audience of more than 500,000 followers in Pakistan, Simran offers concrete guidance for ministry leaders, social media teams, digital responders, and online follow-up teams.

In this session: • Recognizing four types of online visitors: seekers, confused visitors, aggressive visitors, and time wasters • Identifying who is genuinely interested in learning about Jesus • Responding to angry or confrontational messages without being drawn into debate • Asking questions that uncover someone's background and spiritual understanding • Building trust through empathy, patience, and personal stories • Setting healthy boundaries that protect the well-being of digital responders • Crafting an effective first response to questions about Christianity

Simran also walks through seven golden rules for digital responders: give people the benefit of the doubt, filter and prioritize wisely, start slowly, understand before guiding, build a real relationship, lead the conversation thoughtfully, and respond with respect.

The central lesson: digital responding is not preaching at people — it is walking with people.
