Retired Lexington Fire Captain Arthur Ashley joins Jake Barnes to discuss what makes a truck company effective—even when the apparatus is not a traditional ladder truck. They dig into truck-company culture, aggressive search, ventilation, RIT preparation, leadership, and the responsibility every firefighter has to contribute beyond the assignment.
Arthur Ashley has served in the fire service since 1986 and retired from the Lexington Fire Department in 2024 after 30 years. He is an FDIC HOT and classroom instructor, co-author with Chief Jim Silvernail of The Non-Traditional Truck Company, co-creator of Truckie Talk, and owner/instructor of Street-Smart Tactics and Truckie-Talk Training.
